Paul.
Very well done! ![]()
Did you use a sniff trail ? Magnet or otherwise?
Great result................ ![]()
no just big baits, eg: 6-8 squid on an 8/0 pennell
Had a nice days fishing on Enticer with Mark B. -5 degrees when I left home and towed the boat to Baiter for Mark.
We followed Maverick out to the Pinnacle mark - Illusion was fishing on the mark, so anchored nearby. Straight into a whiting and then pout after pout.
I got smashed up on my whiting rig by something much bigger. So stepped up to heavy mono with large baits. Nothing showing apart from the odd pout.
Mark had a decent fish but the hook came out - but no problem as I had the same fish on and brought a Conger to the surface which we TBarred off by the side of the boat.
Weather was by now getting lumpy, so we headed back to stop off at the Spoil ground ( getting the anchor up was tricky, since another boat had anchored rather close by ). As the weather was deteriorating, we headed back ( 29 knots through the harbour ).
Still good to be out with good company and was great to see the look on Paul J's face when he realised he had won

Hi
Went into Poole Angling today and was told that Andy from the charter boats won the charter Cod and the pool of
Phew what a game all that turned out to be eh!
Recently returned after what seems like a week away just to get out Thursday!
Firstly can I echo the comment re Paul and payback for his sterling efforts on our own open - not ignoring the other contributions of course.
The fish arrived just after the middle of the ebb, and Beowulf (4 cables West) had theirs at about the same time. Paul fought a cagey fight and the only way he was going to loose it was if someone screwed up with the net - glad I didn't (and payback again; for his netting mine last year!)
We estimated 13 on the boat - 13 3 on the scales.
Final results were, as far as I remember them -
180 odd anglers
6 Cod
3 to Charter boats (Hooker (Pat Manley) - Beowulf (Nick ?) - Other?
3 to Private boats (all PBSBAC ones...........
)
This time the cod was a little stupid - and I didn't take this into account - fihs was supposed to grab my small piece of cuttle as an 'starter' before moving on to Paul 'main course' bait - it couldn't have been 10 ft away from it - dumb greedy fish!
Here's a picture taken at the time - if you look really closely you can just see a hint of a smile on the anglers face - trust me this got bigger as the day wore (sic) on!
