is there a special set of knots that are required for fishing with braid

I expect you'll get plenty of sound advice from the real pro's, but here's mine, for what it's worth.
For joing the braid to a mono leader I use the Albright knot. For joing to swivels, etc., a Trilene knot. These can be found at Animated Knots

and for added security, fold over the length of braid, so that you are tying the knot with two lengths of braid.
