Tigerfish - results

Had a great day out starting with 6 good bass on lures, then Alun and I focused on the bream. Found it tough going for the bigger ones, loads of them, but many were still going to nursery school... the best went:

1-11 to Steve and 1-10 to Alun

Just like Tigerfish, the Joint Venture crew gave the Bass a go before trying for some Bream - albeit a much later start due to Poole tide restrictions.

The delay proved fortuitous, as we fished alongside Tigerfish in a stronger tide, which produced plenty of bass to around 7lb 8oz., all on lures.

Then inshore to find lots and lots of Bream, but not many big ones.

The best of the day came to my rod at 2lb 7oz.

The power boat threat did not effect us as they hugged the shore - no doubt to give the holidaymakers on the beach a bit of a spectacle - but the noise was deafening even though we were upwind and two miles away.

good luck to all over the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend.

Ian

Slow day for Hydra with only a few small bream. Nothing worth weighing.

Was going out on Looby 4 with Jerry 1 & 2.

Due to meet at Cobb's at 07:50.

Got a message at 06:30  - - - - can I be there just after 7 for the 07:30 bridge?

Yes!

So an earlier start than planned.

We headed off to Kimmeridge area with high hopes.

As we reached our chosen mark Jerry 1 was pointing and saying "dolphins"

I got my phone going just in time to video one going under the boat. We could see more in the distance too.

<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="/monthly_2021_05/Dolphin.PNG.c8fdeda41f431c04fbe4e49177bc9b61.PNG" data-fileid="9679" data-fileext="PNG" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="9679" data-ratio="70.10" width="1000" alt="Dolphin.thumb.PNG.e5421d969baba275ffbe1e5b7fda88c5.PNG" src="/monthly_2021_05/Dolphin.thumb.PNG.e5421d969baba275ffbe1e5b7fda88c5.PNG" />

Jerry 1 was quickly into a beautiful Cuckoo Wrasse.

I'd never seen one of those before.

Of course Jerry 2 wasn't having that!

So he caught one too!

<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="/monthly_2021_05/1189370018_Jerry2Cuckoo.jpg.ef03a6b0fd1670859d158a3ad271af47.jpg" data-fileid="9681" data-fileext="jpg" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="9681" data-ratio="75.08" width="999" alt="208996365_Jerry2Cuckoo.thumb.jpg.d36e5b3551afe73f99ee9597ec5fa313.jpg" src="/monthly_2021_05/208996365_Jerry2Cuckoo.thumb.jpg.d36e5b3551afe73f99ee9597ec5fa313.jpg" />

I think we ended up with 15 or more bream in total and we kept a few whilst the smaller ones went back.

Doggies,  a Bull Huss to Jerry 2,  A small eel to me, a couple of small Bass to Jerry 1.

I really enjoyed my day out and was looked after by a couple of Real Gents.

Thank you VERY much both of you.

As an extra. . . . . . Yesterday I was fixing a flat roof and got a bit scorched.

Today out in the sun all day. . . . . . . I have a face as red as Jerry's coat but I have an antidote!

Beer. <img alt=";)" data-emoticon="" height="20" src="/emoticons/default_wink.png" srcset="/emoticons/wink@2x.png 2x" title=";)" width="20" />  <img alt=":smileys-fish-465204:" data-emoticon="" src="/emoticons/smileys-fish-465204.gif" title=":smileys-fish-465204:" />

Thanks Gentlemen.

Jim

Dean and I were off through the 8:30 bridge lift and out to ballard for our first stop.  Very slow there with just a couple of Bream and nothing else so a move was called for.  Off over the Dancing ledge where we had 7 or 8 smooth hounds up to 10lb ish, a spotted ray at 3lb 12oz, dogfish and around 6 Bream.  Was windier than expected so after a while we decided to return to Ballard on the way back.  The mark we would have fished was already taken and glad it was as we went slightly off piste where we had 25-30 Bream.

Largest went to Dean at around 2lb but he is no longer a club member so doesn't count, largest I could muster weighed 1lb 12oz at home.

All in all a good day with a splattering of fish which kept us busy for a change.

Not sure if we're too late to officially enter but team Samways will be giving it a go today.

Went to Dancing ledge in the hope of calmer sea and bigger fish, neither happened

Back to Ballard near Sam and had a lot more action on the target species but like him they were too small to weigh

Last hour moved into Swanage for dinner. only one more bream, then a smoothy and a spotted , both quite fun on a bream rod.

Hell of a tide running as we surfed past old harry on our way home

Tight lines all today
