nice fish well done
Nice one Neil
Good to see the fish of the month published on here for the benefit of those who cant make the meeting.
Even better if we can manage to get a photo of the winner with their voucher - (it's not always going to be possible evry month)

Congratulations on your new club (UK?) record Charlie.
It's good to see good numbers of these being caught in our area still.
Hopefully the message that these are a protected species will also get through to everyone.
Neal
Well done everyone 😉
Neal,
I dont believe the Undulates to be "Protected" but they are classed as "Endangered".
Please see IUCN Red List:

"The most recent ICES advice (2008) is for no target fishing in the North Sea, English Channel and Celtic Seas."
This was the reason we banned them from being weighed in at the Open.
Rob
Nicest looking rays imo
Rob that article reads as if they are not at all protected, just that they can not be targetted.
Such a shame as they are great looking fish. Have a limited distribution and are endangered.
I think the Club is very right to ban them from our Open. If we lead the way others may follow.
Regardless of size we will not kill any on Alfresco.

well done everyone above ..... I havent even been out!
Undulates are protected in that they are not allowed to be landed by commerical fisherman under the CFP.
Recreational Sea Anglers are allowed to land them but this is discouraged ( by our club ).
In Scotland though they have just brought in regulations which apply to RSA's which also prevent landing undulates ( and Skate / Shark ).
